Private Property LL Milton is currently working on a project titled PRIVATE PROPERTY, which documents all of the houses that she has lived in. The project is culminating in a series of fifteen large-scale paintings full of color and life. The paintings will temporarily transform indoor spaces into abstracted streets allowing the viewer to step into a constructed world where the outside is brought inside and they momentarily forget where they are. Many ideas for Milton's artwork come from the personal experience of growing up in the United States. In assessing the ubiquity of housing and the transient nature of “home”, the work is relevant to anyone who has been in the position to adapt to new surroundings; an exploration of the necessity and nature of change. LL Milton encourages the viewer to step out of their reality, into another one, and back to their reality with a new perspective. PRIVATE PROPERTY is a commentary on the multiple ways a person can live. By allowing others to step into her world and understand the way she has lived, Milton hopes they will better understand their own lives. All work photographed by Bill Kipp
